Individual Counselling in Singapore
You do not have to manage everything on your own
You may be keeping up with work, caring for others and meeting your responsibilities, while privately feeling overwhelmed, low or unlike yourself. Perhaps anxiety is difficult to switch off, your relationship is weighing on you, or you have reached a point where something needs to change.
You do not need to wait until you can no longer cope to seek help.
I’m Cassandra Chiu, a registered counsellor with over 15 years’ experience. I will work with you to understand what is happening, identify what needs attention and take practical steps towards meaningful change.

When individual counselling can help
Sometimes there is a clear reason for seeking counselling. At other times, you simply know that life feels harder than it should.
You might be experiencing:
- Anxiety, persistent worry or difficulty switching off.
- Depression, low mood, loss of interest or a sense of disconnection.
- Pressure at work, exhaustion or difficulty balancing competing demands.
- Relationship conflict, loneliness or a betrayal of trust.
- Difficulty setting boundaries or expressing your needs.
- Grief, loss, a major transition or uncertainty about your next steps.
- Self-doubt or recurring patterns you want to change.
You do not need a diagnosis or a perfectly formed explanation before making an appointment. We can begin with what is troubling you now.
Feeling low, even when you are still functioning
Depression does not always mean being unable to get out of bed. You may still be working and meeting your obligations while finding little enjoyment in life, withdrawing from people or feeling that everything takes more effort.
These experiences deserve attention. In counselling, we can explore what you are going through, how it is affecting your daily life and what support may help. Where medical assessment or additional care would be useful, I will discuss that with you.
You can read more on my depression counselling page. If persistent worry or tension is your main concern, my anxiety counselling page explains how we can work on that.
A place where you do not have to hold everything together
If you are accustomed to being capable, making decisions or supporting others, seeking help can feel unfamiliar. You may worry about being misunderstood, judged or given advice that does not fit the realities of your life.
Our sessions give you space to speak openly about the pressures you face. Together, we will consider your work, relationships, responsibilities and personal circumstances, so that the changes we work towards are relevant and practical for you.
Experienced support with a clear direction
I bring over 15 years of counselling experience and training as a Master Solution Focused Practitioner in Coaching.
I will listen carefully, ask purposeful questions and help you identify patterns, strengths and possibilities that may be difficult to see when you are caught up in the problem.
We will establish goals together and work on changes you can apply beyond the counselling room. Depending on your concerns, this may involve responding differently to difficult thoughts and feelings, communicating more clearly, setting boundaries or making considered decisions.
We will also review what is changing and adjust our work where needed. You should understand what we are working towards and have opportunities to discuss whether the sessions are helping.

Relationship difficulties: you can come on your own
You can seek counselling for relationship difficulties whether you are married, dating, separated or considering what comes next.
If your partner is unwilling to attend, you can still begin. We can work on understanding your situation, communicating your needs, responding to conflict, setting boundaries and deciding what you want for yourself.
Your partner remains responsible for their own behaviour. Attending alone does not mean taking responsibility for fixing the relationship by yourself.
If you are considering sessions together, you can also read about my marriage and relationship counselling service.
What happens in the first session?
Your first session gives us time to understand your concerns, what you have already tried and what you would like to be different.
I will help you identify priorities and agree an initial direction for our work. You do not need to prepare a speech or know where to begin. I will guide the conversation.
Some people come with a specific issue they want to address. Others need space to understand several connected difficulties. We will discuss a suitable way forward and review this as the work progresses.
Confidentiality and your privacy
When you attend for individual counselling
Your sessions are private and confidential, subject to professional and legal limits, including circumstances involving serious safety concerns. I will explain these limits and how your information is handled before we begin, so you can ask questions and make an informed decision.
When individual sessions are part of couples counselling
Individual meetings within couples counselling have a different arrangement because our work also concerns the relationship.
I will not act as a messenger between partners or agree to keep secrets that undermine the couple work. If something important to your relationship comes up individually, I will support you in preparing to discuss it together in a couple session. This does not mean that every private thought or feeling must be shared.
We will discuss and agree this arrangement before beginning individual meetings within couples counselling.
Appointments and fees
Appointments are available in person in Singapore and online.
Your first session provides time to understand your concerns and agree a way forward. The fee is $400 for up to 90 minutes.
Follow-up appointments are charged at $250 per hour booked, with approximately 50 minutes for counselling and the remaining time for session notes. Longer appointments and counselling packages are also available. The same fees apply to in-person and online sessions.
